Is this a game of name that tune? If so please could you indicate the rhythm?

sablonneuse - I am surprised that a woman of your wisdom shouldn't spot this.

Not sure what this is about but the tune reminded me of Winnie the Pooh!!!:)

Happy birthday makes sense to me. Are those trees a birthday present?

headless chicken - my granny used to babysit Christopher Robin Milne.

donna - thank you and happy unbirthday to you.

davem - thank you. I managed one or two.

headless chicken - clink. You see I thought it was easy, just goes to show.

Thank you.

She Of The Town House - Thank you. Well we can have some kentucky fried weasel and a paper cup with some generic cola on Thursday. A night out with the lads? I took the Boy to scouts and had a cup of tea before bedtime. Does this count?

FB - diolch yn fawr.

lori - thank you. Yes, She Of The Town House bought me a copper beech and a sweet chestnut. These to be taken and planted on the mountain soon.

Nigel and Sue – hey you two! Thanks for that. I see we were online at the same time. Fancy trying a messenger link up sometime ?

Sabloneusse – thank you.

Sally – there are a couple of fields. O a fiddly ten acres or so, on Hallett’s Mountain and we have a corner reserved for ‘The Woods’. She Of The Town House and I have agreed that we will buy each other some fairly well developed trees for birthdays and Christmas for the next few years. That way we may see some of them grown tallish before we peg out ourselves and have to be buried under one.

Me – thank you as well.

Buffalodickdy – cheers, mines a pint!

Seriously thank you all for taking the time as always. I am now going to wrap myself round a cold beer and a chicken curry.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say 'Happy Birthday'. I thought the tune was from The Goons - least I think that was similar to their theme music.

And yet another "Happy Birthday!"

Wow! to the A A Milne connection - one of my favourite English writers. About 20 years ago I picked up a little book from a secondhand shop: a collection of A A Milne's writings from a number of periodicals of the time. A bit like an early twentieth century blog. This had sat on the bottom bookshelf in our dining room for years... until a few weeks ago our demented cat decided to look for something else to soak in urine. Too bad!

I have no imagination so confess to not even trying to work the tune out...

HB though, hope it was a good one

very happy birthday boxingday boxinday. and what a lovely present. (i must confess, i was going with the theme from the archers at first, but that's tum ti tum ti tum ti tum, isn't it?)

I was destined to be in Wales last night after all.... Broke down on way to Monmouth. Well that will be a blog. Trouble is it's a bit of a recurring theme this driving to Wales theme, like my current post! Is it that we are not heading far enough north do you think?

Hi Meredic
Sorry for borrowing your blog to post a comment to another reader.............

But Sablonneuse, I failed miserably in trying to leave a comment on your blog, and am to send you an email either......

Wanted to say:

I felt your tingle as I read this!

Great post. Beautfully written. Very moving!

Everyone should have a look!

meredic said...

Jayne – I shall have to look up the theme for the Goons. I don’t remember it going like that…

Dl – when I am not in such a panic I will put up a link for you. My granny was an understairs maid for the Milne family when she was a kid. 95 and still going strong.

Fi – thanks. I am sure you have imagination though.

Rivergirlie – hey are you a fellow Archers fan? I have been listening since the early sixties!

Sally Lomax – what are you like! Sabloneusse puts up a perfectly straightforward form and you cant fill it in. If I get time I will forge it for you.

Many happy returns. Trees as presents sounds like a great idea. Do you own fields other than the obvious areas enclosed by your back and front "garden" walls?

meredic said...

mike - The large field immediately in front of the house and another one with a stream and a pond behind Bob The Other Builders place.

Hi Meredic, Yes it would be great to catch up with you soon on line. I have been reading your history, our Mum's are very alike. Sounds so much like my family history, except Mum left, not Dad. This happened after I had left home.I felt in my later years, that their marriage was best over, and they could get on with their lives.
I will engage the talents of uni student daughter, (Lisa), to guide me into "linking up ". Nigel
