Red In Tooth And Claw

Every now and then the cats that own me bring me a weasel. This poor chap turned up in the kitchen first thing this morning.
I guess they cant taste very nice as they only ever seem to be killed.
A pity.
My mate Dave always said that carnivores seldom eat other carnivores. I am not sure if this is true?

I suppose moles count as carnivores/omnivores and none of our cats has ever eaten one. We just presumed they didn't taste nice. I'd have thought rats and mice would eat meat though and the cats have no problems scoffing those. Birds eat worms - does that make them carnivores minus teeth? - and they're not spared if a cat catches one.

From what i've heard cats hardly ever eat their kill, but bring it back as a 'trophy'.

My cat tends to bring back some odd things. Never a weasel though.
I think they see it as a gift?

My uunderstanding is that cats kill by instinct but have to be taught by their mothers to dress it - so unless they've been taught to dress it, they don't eat it
